Recipe for Ginger Tea, Cabarete Dominican Republic

Make way for this delicious non-alcoholic typical Dominican Christmas tradition: ginger tea. You can have this drink at any time during the day but it is especially tasty just after rounding off a huge meal surrounded by family and friends!


 Preparation time: 5 minutes
Cooking time: 15 minutes
Serves: 6

8 cups of water
½ cup of ginger root, peeled and chopped up into thin slices
Cinnamon stick
Brown sugar or honey

* Boil the water and the cinnamon
* Wash and peel the ginger root and cut it into thin slices
* Take out the cinnamon stick when the water colours slightly darker
* Add the ginger and let boil for another 5 minutes
* Serve and sweeten according to taste
