Larimar: the Caribbean’s blue Gem…. And THE Atlantis Stone ?

Barahona Coast Larimar Dominican RepublicBeautiful, ocean-blue Larimar is only sourced from Baoruco, located in the south part of the Dominican Republic, making it a most rare Pectolite gemstone. A famous American psychic Edgar Cayce is said to link that stone to the legendary lost land of Atlantis…
Also, all the metaphysical experts claim Larimar is one of the best healing stones to be had…
Regardless, whether one believes in the gem’s unique history, or its special powers, Larimar makes a delightful, durable and most attractive jewelry stone!

Origins of Larimar
Surfacing from the earth, high up in the remote mountains of the Baoruco Range, over time, volcanic material naturally washes downstream in the Bahoruco River of the Dominican Republic ,to lower lying areas and island beaches. This is how and where Larimar stones were first officially" discovered.

Larimar's international introduction did not come until after 1974 when two men on a beach, the Dominican Miguel Mendez and an American Norman Rilling, stumbled upon a small blue stone of a type that the modern world outside Barahona had never seen before. The men hunted and followed similar little blue stones upstream into the mountains about 10 kilometers above Barahona city. Today, most Larimar continues to come from this remote area, named Baoruco.

The word Larimar was created by Mendez, who combined his daughter's name Larissa with the Spanish world for sea, Mar.

A magical stone?
Larimar is also called the Atlantis Stone, because of Edgar Cayce, a Spiritual master who lived in Trinidad and Tobago and who founded many Yoga Centers across the world, claimed that some islands in the Caribbean including the Dominican Republic were part of the lost continent of Atlantis. He went further to say that on one of those islands a blue stone with healing powers would be found during the 20th Century,- a description that corresponds to Larimar. Today, there are thousands of people, naturalists and persons practicing alternative and holistic healing methods, who use Larimar to assist and reinforce healing processes.

Larimar is considered a healing stone, and said to be finely tuned to the human body particularly to the throat area. It is said that it increases speech and communication skills and supports the body's natural healing process. Persons believing in this have been known to wear Larimar jewelry or to put pieces of Larimar in their pockets or under their pillows.

Dominicans traditionally believe in the power of Larimar for love, and the married have to wear a pièce of Larimar on the day of the ceremony…

Anyway, just try by yourself… you never know… And if it was true ???!!!
